Batteye Park
“Mummy there’s another park – STOP I want to play on the swings” said Georgina. Battye Park is on Pine Mountain Road at Brassall, Ipswich. It is only a relatively small park by comparison to the others in Ipswich we have been to but has some interesting features. There are murals on the walls of the toilet painted by Rhondda diiery in 1985.

The park also features a Bocce court with surrounding seats for team members and opponents to sit and watch the games.

Bocce is a bowl sport which involves a team to position their balls (boccia) closer to the pallina (the small ball). Points are earnt by players with their balls closest to the pallina ball. For further information on this sport refer to

.
This is certainly a novel way to entertain the children and the whole family. The game of skill could bring out the best in everyone!
The park is the location for the annual Bocce tournament between Brassall State School students and the Mayor and local councillor Cheryl Bromage. The message from the Mayor details who were the winners on the day.
This park also features barbeque areas with shelters.
This park can be found at 20 Chelmsford Avenue, Ipswich. Click here for a
