Hardings Paddock Picnic Area
Hardings Paddock Picnic Area provides one of the many bushwalking opportunities in the Ipswich area. Branching out from the central Barbeque and open areas are five different walking tracks designed for different bushwalking capabilities.

The display boards located at the entrance to the barbeque area not only provided detailed information on the wildlife, safe bushwalking and environmentally friendly tips but visitors can pick up a bushwalking guide with the relevant maps.

Chalk Circuit is classified as a Class 2 track by Australian Standards. This means that it is an easy level track for all fitness levels. Georgina enjoyed this leisurely walk.

This circuit includes an informative Bush Tucker Area covering various Australian bush tucker plants used for medicines (Kurrajong plant); shelter (Spotted Gum); and hunting (Flax Lily).

Gamelan Circuit on the other hand is classified as a class 3 track, which means that it is a moderate level track suitable for average fitness levels. This track is also open to mountain bike riders if they wish to try their fitness levels.
The tracks to Rocky Knoll Lookout, Goolman Lookout or Goolman Lookout via Rocky Knoll Lookout are all graded as Class 3-4 tracks according to Australian Standards. These are moderate level tracks with rough surfaces and steep inclines. These tracks are best left to those with bushwalking experience and average fitness levels. We opted out of trying these ones while we were there!
The area is suitable not only for bushwalking but for horse riding, recreational cycling and family gatherings. The open spaces enable the family to get involved in
Hardings Paddock Picnic Area is approximately 8kms from the Cunningham Highway. You travel along the Ipswich/Boonah Road until you reach Carmichaels Road. This part of the journey is along a gravel road which continues for approximately 2kms. This was a great area, but without being referred to it by Jodie through this website’s contact us page, we would not have found it.
This park can be found at Carmicheals Road, Purga. Click here for a
